I think it's safe to say that I'm completely obsessed with YSL's new signature line of of lip decadence. In life, a few amazing things happen. Maybe for you, it's watching your child take its first steps. For another, it might be becoming a medical doctor and saving his/her first life. I'm much more petty and superficial, and thus, the creation of Rouge Pur Couture No.10 Beige Tribute is on my list. Don't judge me.
I would describe 10 Beige Tribute as a pinky-beige nude color. It's one of the more perfect nudes I've encountered. The texture is smooth and creamy, dries down to a semi-matte finish and has no visible micro-shimmer. It has the perfect level of pigmentation, where one can achieve full coverage without it looking cakey or enhancing dry flakes or any fine lines. I have chronically dry lips, so I can very much appreciate a quality lipstick that does nothing to take away from the lip's natural moisture or exacerbate the problem. And that, my friends, is precisely why these lipsticks are so phenomenal. If you haven't tried one yet, then by all means do.

Love it! I'm trying to decide between this and #6 rose bergamasque. Thoughts on which would be better for a fair cool toned person? Love your lip swatches. They do appear to be true to life. Are your lips lightly pigmented? Thanks
ReplyDeleteAnonymous- Hmm...that's a tough call. Either of them can work on either warm or cool toned skin, so it's just a matter of preference. No.10 will probably look more natural you, maybe less obvious. No.6 will give you a very subtle "pop" of color/bring a little bit of warmth to the face. I suggest checking out Bluebell's Beauty Blog's recent post on No.6, because she's very pale and looks cool toned to me, so it might be a better reference point. She's listed on the side in my "Blogs I Read" section.
ReplyDeleteAlso, my lips are what I consider to be medium pigmented...maybe on the lighter end of medium. YSL lipsticks are so color rich and purely pigmented that they tend to register the same/very close on everyone. I will put up a post of my natural lip color, without any balm or anything to use a reference point for others. Thanks so much for the positive feedback, and I hope I helped!! xxx
hi
ReplyDeletedo you think this color would look good on a olive skinned girl?
thanks
ps i love your blog:)
Butteryfly- How dark olive? I'm NC10, and this lipstick is nude/pale on me, so it will just be more obvious of a nude lipstick on darker and/or more golden/warm skin tones. If you want something more subtle, I would suggest 6 Rose Bergamasque. It's all personal preference. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful :/ Thanks for commenting, nevertheless! xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren! I'm digging your YSL posts. Have you ever thought of doing a comparison of the pale pinks (lingerie, frivolous, rose carnation) and nudes (rose bergamasque, beige tribute, tea rose)? :) That would be so helpful.
ReplyDeleteLove your nc10 swatches! I used to buy lipstick after looking at temptalia - horrible colors for my casper skintone! Your swatches on the other hand totally work for me. Keep it up, pretty lady!

L- Hey, thanks :) I will try to do the swatch comparison soon, hopefully withint the next week or so. :) xxx
ReplyDeleteHey Rachel, I'm so happy that I came across your blog when I googled for pur couture images. I have almost the same colouring as you (black hair/eyes and very fair skintone on a cooler side), so I find your swatches really helpful! This is indeed the best nude in the world, ever! :) Do you perhaps have Rouge Pur Couture in Belle de Rose? if you do I'd love to see it swatched... I think it would look gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteMia- Thanks so much! I'm glad that you've found my site relevant/helpful. Some of the reasoning behind me starting this blog was so that other pale people like myself could have a resource. It seems most of the other popular beauty bloggers are around NC30-ish, and thus, not terribly helpful, for me at least. KarlaSugar and her amazing pale arm has been a huge resource for me.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you mention RPC 8 Belle de Rose, because I was going to buy it after seeing Lisa Eldridge feature it in one of her vids, but when I swatched it at the counter, I just got the feeling that it wouldn't look good on me. Like...a tad too much purple tone to it, if I recall correctly. I kinda want to get the darkest one..no18, bc it reminds me of Chanel Rouge Noir, but we'll see. Thanks so much for lovely comment :) xxx
Thanks for your swatches, really good!! When do you swatch the spring 2011 Rouge Pur Couture?
ReplyDeleteIt would be intersting how they look like.
I had the Rouge Volupté but was tired of applying so often. Do you have any experience of the Rouge Volupté Perle?
Greetings from Sweden!!
Anon- Thanks! Greetings to you as well :) I've never been to Sweden and am hoping to visit Stockholm sometime next year. It looks beyond amazing!! :P
ReplyDeleteYeah, I've been waiting and waiting for YSL to release the new shades of RPCs in the U.S., but word is that they won't until some time in April. What's annoying is that I know that the U.K. (and maybe more of Europe) has had the new Spring shades for almost two months now >.<
Yeah, I know what you mean with the Rouge Voluptes. The colors are gorgeous, but they're a lot of work. The best way to make them last (in my experience) is to top them with a gloss to help seal in the lipstick/pigment.
I completely hated the Rouge Volupte Perles..lol. The color selection is boring and they are too sheer. They don't make sense to me. They're not at all pigmented like the normal RVs, so I don't understand why they even share the same name.
I hope that helped at all, and thanks for the comment :) xxx
