The best way I can figure out how to describe the texture, is like if you took a Le Metier de Beaute eye shadow and made the milling of the powder slightly softer and more fine. Abyssinian Catbird went on incredibly smoothly, with zero fallout, whilst giving the effect of wearing a crease shade, by simply blending out the edge. Historically speaking, I've never been able to pull off anything in the golden olive/khaki realm, but I genuinely feel like I looked like the prettiest girl in the world wearing it (relative to the definition of "pretty").

I NEED NEED NEED it. It's not in stock on Zuneta's website though!
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful as always!
♥ Jessica
So very pretty!! Can you believe I still have nothing from this brand, but have long coveted Abyssinian Catbird...one of these days it shall be mine! :) xx
ReplyDeleteLOL....I don't know what I loved more, your makeup, or the dancing. #boobiesbouncing
ReplyDeleteSTOP. ENABLING. ME. #hateyouloveyou
ReplyDeleteBeautiful look!!
ReplyDeleteYup, Abyssinian Catbird is gorgeous, the effect on the lids is almost like liquid metal, and it looks stunning with your dark eye colour. I haven't tried Bejewelled Skylark (yet). Delicate Hummingbird together with Blackpepper Jay is another wonderful smokey combo. Also, their blushes and creamy lipsticks are fantastic and the highlighter is very pretty. Basically, your wallet is gonna hate you now :)
ReplyDeleteI see my next paycheck is going to Zuneta!;)
ReplyDeleteI love your video! I am new to your blog and an avid RBR fan. Abyssinian Catbird looks fantastic on you, and I love that YSL Rouge Pur Couture. Gorgeous look :)
ReplyDeleteJessica- I know! Right after I bought my shadows, they threw out that damn promo! The CEO/founder of zuneta said on twitter that they should be re-stocked soon. I can't wait to see this on you! :D <3 xxx
ReplyDeleteMakeup Magpie- Lol, same! I can be very narrow-minded with brands, so I have no one to blame but myself...lol. The textures of these shadows are literal genius, I'm tellin' ya! :D <3 xxx
Sonia- LMAO! That's a solid hashtag, right there! Thank you thank you! :P <33 xxx
Jess- I shit you not when I say this, you *must* own both Abs. Cat. and Bejeweled Skylark. BS (lol) is wildly similar to one of your favorites, MAC Glamour Check. #GLORIOUSBEYONDWORDS !! <333 xxx
Sara H.- Thank you!! :) xxx
Klara- Man, you know your stuff! Thank you so much for the recs. I definitely need Delicate Hummingbird..and of course, more shades. I think I want to also try their Sip of Pink lip balm and lipsticks in Nothing Unknown and Raw Silence. My bankcard will, in fact, hate my guts :/...lol. :D xxx
Flyavsted- Awesome! I can't wait to hear what you end up getting!! <3 xxx
Pretty Addicted- Thank you so much! I just checked out your blog, and there's so much gorgeous going on there! I'm going to have a good time going through your archives! Thanks again :D xxx
Stupidly I didn't take up the RBR discount offered by Zuneta. This is a brand I've been wanting to try forever, I'll have to jump on the fan bandwagon soon.
ReplyDeleteACB looks gorgeous on you. Alas, I can't pull it off as well with my blue-grey-green eyes, but I'll just swatch it on the back of my hand so I can admire it and whimper a little.
ReplyDeleteSolstice Halcyon is essential! It's probably the one RBR eyeshadow that's as close to universally flattering as they come, and it's very versatile. I agree with Klara that Blackpepper Jay is excellent for muting or smoking out other looks, and I also love Grey Go-away Lourie for cooling off too-warm colors. Gracious Arasari is also a great don't-have-to-think neutral, and Delicate Hummingbird is one of the prettiest colored eyeshadows I have ever seen with its pink-purple duochrome metallic effect. The one I just can't make myself love at all is Alabaster Starling. Way too sparkly for me, even as a highlighter.
After you get over your eyeshadow lust, you'll want to look at RBR's powder blushes, lipsticks, highlighting powder, and primer. Hell even their lip balm is to die for because it could also be used as gloss. LOVE this brand, and your wallet will, indeed, hate you. ;)
Now I need to try those damned RBR FIRE DROPS eyeshadows.
Jen- Omg, I can't recommend these shadows enough. Like you, I just didn't really care/buy into the hype, but the textures are just...flawless. So in love with these. They just re-stocked the majority of the shadows post-sale, and I ordered Delicate Hummingbird and Unforgettable Oriole. *happy face* I hope you're well!! <3 xxx
ReplyDeleteZuzu's Petals- Oh, really? Man, I thought that if I didn't look like the sallow-est creeper in the world, that anyone could pull off this color..lol. I'm not very educated on how shadows work against different eye colors, as mine are just...near-black, dead, shark eyes..lol. I guess I have a slight advantage there? Lol.
I just ordered Delicate Hummingbird and Unforgettable Oriole!! So freaking excited, you have no idea. I totally do want Solstice Halycon (still not re-stocked on zuneta yet) and Angelic Cockatiels...and pretty much everything else I can get my hands on..lol. I really appreciate the feedback on all the colors, because I've been going around and around regarding Alabaster Starling. You have confirmed that I don't have a use/place for that one. Thank you!
And, I totally want to buy like, everything else they make! I would have a heart attack if I could actually go to an RBR counter. What a glorious day that would be, I'm tellin' ya. I want to get the Sip of Pink lip balm, Nothing Unknown and Raw Silence lipsticks, and perhaps the Sweet To Touch highlighter powder. From pics I've seen online, I'm not sure on the hi-li powder, just because it's looks super duper subtle. What brand (texture/quality-wise) would you compare RBR's blush to?
Thanks so much for like..a super informative comment. I really, really appreciate it! :) xxxxxx
I just found your site from a Perilously Pale link and your video was informative and highly entertaining. Again, another RBR enabler. I may have to buckle.
ReplyDeleteYou are the mistress of dances for beauty. BTW, what was that song?
You are sublime.
