When Burberry first launched, I had zero interest. I've seen various blog posts and YT vids that showcased some pretty things, but I never felt dazzled or as though I needed to try anything. It wasn't until I saw swatches of one of the newest shadows (22 Pale Barley), that I knew a visit to a Burberry counter was necessary/imminent. 22 Pale Barley wasn't stocked at the counter yet, so naturally, I had to leave with something. That "something" turned into Sheer Eye Shadow 21 Midnight Brown.
21 Midnight Brown reminds me of MAC Mulch, but not as dark, "true" brown, or rough in texture. This color is somewhere between a sable brown and a beige-toned, warm taupe. This shadow literally glides on the skin, leaving a beautiful glow and sheen. There is *zero* fallout, and the color could blend out for days. It's rare to find a brown-based eye shadow that can work as an all-over wash. I applied this shadow all over the lower lid, up into and past the crease, blending out the top line with a tapered blending brush. I didn't use a base or eye primer, which made the result all the more impressive (to me, at least).
A glowing, smoldering, smokey eye with only one shadow? Don't mind if I do. #smoldering

I seriously cannot get enough of your fabulous, witty self.
ReplyDeleteBut what I can't have is your videos' innate ability to enable me into buying things that I never knew i needed; i.e., this shadow. So perfect in every which way (but it also looks like everything else I own - I call it consistency, others may choose to call it hoarding...).
In any case, it looks beautiful on you. x
How nice are you? Lol, seriously..thank you! Girl, this shadow looks so humbug and lame, but it's just...omg. And, I *never* get excited over brown colors..ever. This just takes on all sorts of different dimensions and other wonderful things. I don't even know how to describe it, bc I'm an idiot.. :/ REGARDLESS, I'm tellin', these are worth checkin' out! :P <3 xxx
DeleteVery very nice, I'm glad you are liking Midnight Brown, it is such a great colour. I love how you used it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Man, I feel like..really late to the party here..lol. The texture of this shadow, in particular, is just fantastic. I really wish they sold the line out of more stores than just Nordstrom. It pains me to wait over a week to receive something from within the U.S e_e ..lol. <3 xxx
DeleteMidnight Brown was the first Burberry product that caused me to have interest in checking out the brand. I had the same experience you did with Pale Barley...it wasn't at the counter yet when I finally made it there 2 hours away. I have a feeling when I make it there in a couple weeks I will have the same experience with Pale Barley which I also love the look of! Like you though Midnight Brown should be there for me now. Glad you love it!
ReplyDeleteMan, was I surprised by this! Who knew I brown eye shadow could evoke such a response..lol. Crazy crazy. I cannot wait for Pale Barley to be out of the UPS truck and in MY HANDS! :P xxx
DeleteI'm so glad you jumped on the Burberry bandwagon. They make the best e/s. You have to try Gold Trench. Also, their blush in Rosewood.
ReplyDeletePS-Your skin is gorgeous...I hate you. ;_;
GIIIIIRL, omg omg. This shadow went a blew my fuckin' mind..seriously. You're no e/s slouch..that's for sure. I should have listened to you way sooner! I've been known to be a little stubborn :P AND, thank you for hating me :D <33 xxx
DeleteI like your videos but I miss these written reviews and pictures. They are easier to find when I'm looking for swatches and all. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! And, trust me, I feel a lot of guilt about dropping my blogging. I really do. I'm trying to get back in the swing and do both, but I'm still pretty slow at it. There's so many lip swatches that I want/need to do, and...ugh. Backlogged! Thanks for being such a good sport and watching my crap vids! :P <3 xxx
DeleteOkay. I need this. No more hemming and hawing.
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning!
♥ Jessica
Jess...you do. And seriously, I've literally never gotten excited over a brown eye shadow before. EVER. O.O Love you! <33 xxx
DeleteUM HI YOU EXIST!
ReplyDeleteI want this eyeshadow, but at this point, I want Rouge Bunny Rouge more. Or better yet, Sunday Riley.
I am trying to be responsible. Let's see how long that lasts!
ADELE!! Yes, I exist, as the shittiest blogger in history e_e I have so much guilt over neglecting proper posts and swatches, etc. IDK what happened. I dropped the ball, as they say.
DeleteOMG, I'm telling myself "NO"! re Sunday Riley. I can't be addicted to everything, or I'll explode. (EW)..lol. <333 xxx
its really pretty. i think i am gonna go ahead and get the pale barley. i wish i knew if i had dupes. the sunday riley looked great too. i want to stop by barneys tomorrow and see it. i should have never decided to branch from mac, my wallet is not thanking me :)
ReplyDeleteGirl, I just got in the mail today...and omg. It's beautiful. I checked within my MAC palettes, and there's nothing near a dupe. The closest thing I found was Suspect from the UD Naked 2 palette. And, the difference in quality and texture is like...HUGE. Night and day, really. I'm not letting myself entertain the thought of Sunday Riley right now..lol. I'm already just...so OTT with my vanity contents. It's kind of nightmare, actually :/ Make sure to let me know what you think of the Pale Barley! :) <3 xxx
DeleteI was like you and haven't had a lot of interest in the Burberry line, however after seeing a bunch of posts about Pale Barely my interest was pique, but this post may be the last straw. I need Burberry eyeshadow in my life! I think I want Midnight Brown even more than Pale Barely! Great blog!
ReplyDeleteYes! I was the same, my friend. Just got Pale Barley in today..and omg; it's gorgeous. Honestly, I vote get both PB and Midnight Brown. Perfect combo, with such an incredible texture. There was nobody more surprised than me, I assure you! Thank you for the wonderful comment :) <3 xxx
